Effective Date: September 8, 2025
Company: The Religion Department LLC (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”)
Welcome to The Religion Department! These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website, online seminars, membership program, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By using our Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.
Â
 1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use our Services. Our Services are not directed to children under 16, and if we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under this age, we will delete it. If you are under 18, you may only use our Services with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. You may not use the Services if you are subject to U.S. sanctions or in a restricted jurisdiction.
Â
2. Accounts and Access
To access certain features, you may need to create an account and provide accurate, complete information. Accounts are personal and non-transferable, and we may limit concurrent streams or device activations. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, at our discretion, especially if you violate these Terms.
Â
3. Payments and Refunds
Payments for seminars, memberships, or other offerings are processed through Kajabi and its integrated third-party providers such as Stripe or PayPal. Memberships renew automatically at the then-current rate until canceled. By purchasing a membership, you authorize recurring charges to your payment method. Cancellation may be made online in your account settings or by contacting [email protected]. Where required by law, we will provide pre-renewal reminders. Refunds for seminars may be requested within one week of purchase, at our discretion. Refunds for memberships may be requested within one day of purchase, at our discretion. Beyond these periods, payments are non-refundable. You agree not to initiate chargebacks for services delivered according to these Terms. We may delay, refuse, or cancel orders for suspected fraud, abuse, or policy violations. Prices exclude applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) unless otherwise stated, and you are responsible for taxes, currency conversion, and bank or FX fees. We may correct pricing or content errors and cancel or refund orders placed under such errors.
4. Intellectual Property
All course materials, recordings, text, graphics, logos, designs, and other content provided through our Services are the exclusive property of The Religion Department LLC or our licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, resell, or otherwise use our content for commercial purposes without our written permission. You may not bypass digital rights management, watermarking, or other access controls, nor record or re-upload our content. You may not use our names, logos, or trademarks without our prior written permission. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and view course materials for personal, non-commercial use.
 Â
5. User Content and Community Guidelines
Our Services allow you to post comments and participate in discussions. You retain ownership of any content you submit but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with our Services. You represent and warrant that your submissions do not infringe third-party intellectual property or publicity rights, are not defamatory or unlawful, and that you have all rights necessary to grant the licenses herein. You agree not to post content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, harassing, or otherwise objectionable. Prohibited conduct includes impersonating others, uploading malware, scraping or harvesting data, circumventing access controls, probing or scanning systems, using automated means without our permission, or using our content to train AI models without our prior written consent. All forum participants must follow the Community Code of Conduct provided at the start of their seminar, as well as any additional guidelines outlined by their professor. We reserve the right to moderate, edit, or delete any user content at our discretion, and to suspend or terminate accounts for violations.
Â
6. Privacy Policy
We collect information you provide, such as your name, email address, payment details, and any other data you submit, as well as information collected automatically such as cookies, usage data, IP address, browser type, device information, and analytics data. We may also collect information from third-party services such as payment processors and analytics providers.
We use this information to deliver and improve our Services, process payments, provide customer support, communicate with you about offerings and updates, analyze website performance, and comply with legal obligations. By registering for our Services, you agree to receive service-related emails such as confirmations, receipts, and course updates. You may also receive promotional or marketing emails, which you can opt out of at any time by using the unsubscribe link in those messages.
We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to personalize content, analyze traffic, and support advertising. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not function properly. Our Services do not respond to Do-Not-Track signals. For EU/UK visitors we provide a consent banner for non-essential cookies.
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the right under GDPR to access, correct, or delete your personal data, restrict or object to certain data processing, withdraw consent at any time, and request a copy of your personal data in a portable format. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or other U.S. states with privacy laws, you may have additional rights to access, delete, correct, or port your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, profiling, or the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
We employ reasonable technical and organizational measures, but no security is absolute. We will comply with applicable notification laws in the event of a data breach. We retain personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described here or as required by law.
Â
7. Lifetime Access
We may advertise “Lifetime Access” for certain seminar purchases. For clarity, Lifetime Access is defined as continued access to lecture recordings and course materials only. Access does not extend to discussion forums, community posts, or other interactive elements, which may be closed after the seminar ends. Students are responsible for downloading and storing recordings and materials within one month after the seminar concludes. We reserve the right to sunset or remove seminar products if the community is no longer active. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide access during the download period and may change formats, players, or delivery methods at our discretion.
 Â
8. Global Use and AvailabilityÂ
Our Services are accessible worldwide, but not all features may be available in all countries. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with your local laws when using our Services.
Â
9. Third-Party Links and Services
Our Services may include links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those third parties. If you access a third-party service through our platform, you do so at your own risk and subject to that third party’s terms.
Â
10. Affiliate Disclosure
We may include affiliate links in seminar materials, for example to textbooks or recommended readings. If you purchase a product through one of these links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate links do not influence the academic integrity or selection of course materials.
Â
11. Recordings and Participant Contributions
Live seminars, lectures, and events may be recorded, including video, audio, chat messages, and other forms of participation. By attending, you irrevocably grant us a worldwide, perpetual, sublicensable, royalty-free license to record, store, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, and otherwise use your name, image, likeness, voice, and contributions in any media now known or later developed for educational, sales, promotional, and archival purposes without compensation. You waive any rights of approval or moral rights to the extent permitted by law.
Â
12. Copyright and DMCA
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on our Services infringes your copyright, send a notice to [email protected] with (a) your physical or electronic signature, (b) identification of the copyrighted work, (c) identification of the infringing material and its location, (d) your contact information, (e) a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized, and (f) a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate. We may remove content and terminate repeat infringers.Â
Â
13. Disclaimers
Our Services are for educational purposes only. They are not intended to provide legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Unless expressly stated, our courses are not accredited and do not confer academic credit or professional certification. Views expressed by guest lecturers or users are their own and do not necessarily reflect those of The Religion Department LLC. Features identified as beta or preview are provided as-is and may be modified or withdrawn. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of our Services. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
Â
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Religion Department LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our Services. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the relevant Service.
Â
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Religion Department LLC, its owners, officers, employees, and contractors from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising out of your use of our Services, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of any third party.
Â
16. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account or access to our Services at any time, with or without cause or notice. Upon termination, your right to use our Services will immediately cease, and you must stop all use of our materials. Sections relating to intellectual property, payments, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution, and recordings survive termination.
Â
17. Force Majeure
We are not liable for delay or failure due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, labor disputes, outages or failures of internet or hosting services, third-party platforms (including Kajabi, Zoom, or Stripe), government actions, or supply disruptions.
 Â
18. Dispute Resolution and ArbitrationÂ
Except for claims eligible for small-claims court or claims seeking injunctive relief for intellectual property misuse, any dispute arising out of or relating to the Services or these Terms will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by JAMS (or AAA) under its rules. Class and representative actions are not permitted; users may bring claims only in their individual capacity. Jury trial is waived. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing [email protected] with the subject “Arbitration Opt-Out” and your account details. Venue for any permitted court action is the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania.
Â
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Â
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Effective Date” at the top indicates the latest revision. By continuing to use our Services after changes are posted, you agree to the updated Terms.
 Â
21. Miscellaneous
If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains in effect. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver. We may assign these Terms; you may not assign them without our consent. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services. You consent to receive notices and disclosures electronically to the email associated with your account.
